So this morning we got up at 2:30 after about 2 hours of sleep to get on a plane from Little Rock to Seattle. There was almost an issue returning the rental car we were driving since an accident on May 20 put our car in the shop with no forseeable resolution. Then there was the getting all the bags checked in (4 total), and the dogs--which had to be taken out of their carriers to be patted down while their carriers were swabbed and examined by TSA. They took it like troopers!! We taped their food to the top of their crates, but somewhere between Dallas and Seattle, we lost Ceaser's food--good thing there is more than enough on top of Sweet Pea's crate still! In Dallas, Sweet Pea displayed her displeasure at being stuck in a cargo hold of a plane by almost taking off the finger of one of the baggage handlers as he stupidly continued to approach her crate with his finger outstretched despite the bared teeth......
We had the crew for our connecting flight let us know that the dogs made it on the plane, since they would have two very discontented dogs on their hands. When we got to Seattle, they brought them up from baggage separately, which made me a little nervous as they have separation anxiety, and the whole baggage claim knew they were not happy being apart. Of course, it was raining in Seattle when we got there, which is one of Sweet Pea's worst weather conditions, but she has managed to survive, and seems to have mastered her feeding toy as well....
We have to get up at 2:45 in the morning again tomorrow to catch our international flight out of Seattle, which will be about 18 hours or so of travel time, something the dogs won't like again....everytime we get them in a car now they start whining, thinking they are going to the airport, poor things!
Hopefully we have a little more room on our next plane....it would make sleeping a little better.
To make matters worse, JJ ended up with chiggers from an outdoor bbq a couple days before we left. But on the bright side, we get to spend some time with JJ's grandpa and uncles, and his Nanna, and I got to see family and friends last night before we finished repacking everything.
We spent all weekend with JJ's family and Amanda, my roommate from college--we had a great time! The good-byes were hard, and many were filled with tears, but we'll be back soon (at least I will)!
